In many respects, U.S. single-family housing markets enjoy a strong position. Robust demand combined with limited inventory continues to push up prices, but rising incomes and low mortgage rates have supported the level of affordability.

In this paper, we examine five housing dynamics, including the key drivers of demand. It includes our Single-Family Current Momentum Heat Map, which gauges metro economic conditions and the near-term growth forecast for 82 U.S. metros.
