Day-to-Day: I’m an associate with SitusAMC’s Appraisal & Consulting team, which is part of the Real Estate Valuation Services group. I’m part of a smaller team within the group, focused on appraisal reports and reviews, as well as valuation management for client portfolios.

Favorite Part of the Job: While the reports we run tend to be similar, the client work is a lot more varied. A lot of real estate roles can become specialized, but my team experiences different markets, assets, and even property types.

Breaking Into the Industry: My background in college was statistics and analytics. I used to work for the NBA in their strategy and analytics department, focusing on assessing referee performance. While there, I took on a part-time job helping a smaller real estate manager, which is how I broke into the business. Through a mutual contact, I found a role at SitusAMC.

Greatest Mentor: My dad has always been my biggest mentor and source of support. He had a career in real estate, but never pressured me into joining the business.

Personal Motto: Be your own judge.

A lot of people decide based on others’ opinions and while feedback is good, it shouldn't be the main driver of your decisions. In high school, for example, I was good in math and science classes. Everyone said I should be a doctor, but when I got to college, I realized that I didn’t want to follow that career path and switched to courses focused on statistics and analytics. 

Dream Travel Destination: Peru

In college, I studied abroad and did a lot of travel around Europe. I’ve crossed off a lot of my bucket list in terms of travel locations, but one place I’d love to visit is Peru. My fiancé’s family is from there and she hasn’t been back since childhood. I’ve done some research and there are so many beautiful places to visit. There’s a desert oasis, gorgeous beaches, and even the rainforest. I’d love to spend some time there and just explore everything the country has to offer.
